BACKGROUND

San Antonio has been alive with action and an integral part of the "west" since its was the capital of Texas in 1772. History has been made here, and so it is apropos that one of the truly great western art shows in the country should be centered here, in San Antonio, Texas, where the action has been and still is! Ivan Mcdonnald 3S JPG

There will be fine western art hanging on the walls of the Texas Pioneer Museum on February 2nd, when the Alamo Kiwanis Charities Club kicks off the forty-third annual Western Art Show and Sale with a preview party, sale and silent auction.

For the past forty-two years the Alamo Kiwanis Charities Club, Inc. has sponsored and produced the Western Art Show and Sale. The event attracts both local, national and international artists. Traditionally, this display of fine artwork has been held in concurrence with the local rodeo season.

In keeping with the tradition, contemporary Western art-patrons and buyers will be able to view the ten-day show and sale in the western atmosphere of the TEXAS PIONEER & RANGER HALL & MUSEUM, at 3805 Broadway, adjacent to the Witte Museum.

The established quality and purpose of the show and sale remains, as always, dedicated to presenting the finest of Southwestern and native American art, and to benefiting the disadvantaged children of San Antonio.

The tradition, of offering the best in contemporary, Southwestern, and native American art by some of the best-known names among national and international artists at some of the best prices, remains the unchanged.

Buyers enjoy a tax deduction on art purchases.
